Get, Set, Go!

Ideas don’t come out fully formed. They only become clear as you work on them. You just have to get started. If I had to understand everything about connecting people before I began, I never would have started Facebook. But this idea was so clear to us — that all people want to connect. So we just kept moving forward, day by day.
— Mark Zuckerberg in his Commencement Address at Harvard in May 2017

When you start something you never know how it is going to end. But you have to start somewhere and then just keep going forward – one day at a time. You have an idea within you and a vision before you. You just need to keep working towards it, learning new things as you go along and improvising with every new step you take. Fear of falling cannot keep you from walking.

If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever. But that’s not the point of having a ship. Ships are meant for sailing, for venturing out into the open sea and bracing the storms.

Starting something new or taking a new direction in life is never easy. There will always be someone telling you that you can’t do it. There will always be people raising questions and offering skepticism. But it’s your life. Nobody makes decisions for you but you. You own up to yourselves and to your decisions, and make your way through the world.

As regards someone telling us what to do with our lives, not even God tells us what to do and what not to do. He gives us our freewill and freedom of choice, albeit also reminding us of their repercussions. Every action has a reaction. Every choice has a consequence. So before you embark on your journey, you need to weigh all the possible outcomes be prepared for the outcomes of your decisions, and get on with life anyway.  It is your life. You have the power to make it or break. You have the power to take it in your hands and change it. You are the captain of your ship, and you alone steer your way forward.

Of course, in this beautiful journey of life you are not living all alone on an island. There are various aspects you need to take into consideration while making your decisions - your loved ones, your family, the ones that depend on you and the ones you depend on for love and support. You need to set your priorities straight. Have a clear picture as to what is it that you exactly want, and then venture out. And once you do, never look back or doubt yourselves. You have weighed your every chance and considered every possibility. Now there’s no looking back. There’s just one way - the way forward.

So own up for yourselves, make your way through life and celebrate the person you are. Take life as it comes and always remember that if God has put you in a particular situation, He will see you through it. For me, the comfort of knowing that I have a big God, who always takes care of me and protects me, is endearing and reassuring. Be happy and smile your way through life.

Cheers to life!!
